Food coma problems? Start all your mornings with a detox after-party! All you need are lemons and some water. It’s that easy. Hashtag: #noexcuses. Even if you are going to be back to work tomorrow.water and lemonPartying with friends and family is so good for our heart, but what about our stomach? We bet it doesn’t feel as good as the heart after all these parties. It’s so hard saying no to grandma’s lasagna or one more glass of wine with friends, and after a couple of days you can easily lose count of what you are eating and drinking.

We know, we know: it’s not that easy to start a strict diet and make sacrifices. We suggest you a very simple way to begin: start your day with a cup of warm water and lemon. This combination is going to be your new best friend!

1. Water and lemon purifies you and facilitates diuresis

If you get used to drink it first thing in the morning, it will help your body eliminate the toxins piled up during the night time. We all know you are probably dreaming about coffee since the alarm clock rings, but you need to resist!
Allow at least 15-20 minutes before enjoying your well-deserved coffee.
If you happen to have a citrus allergy (or simply can’t stand lemon), starting the day with a good glass of lukewarm water will help in any case.

2. Water and lemon stabilises your pH

It may looks like a paradox but lemon helps maintaining an alkaline pH, which is the natural pH of our body, and it’s useful to avoid inflammations. By drinking lemon juice every morning we are able to increase the alkaline intake ratio during our day. Just like lemon, fruits and fresh vegetables have a similar effect too.
Beside Vitamin C, lemon contains flavonoids which work as digestive tonic. Also, citric acid increases the absorption of food and promotes a body and liver detox.

3. Water and lemon is a source of hydration

Drinking a glass of water and lemon first thing in the morning (on a empty stomach) is a great way to hydrate your body, but this is only the beginning. Water is always a good idea! So, remember to drink a lot of water during the rest of your day as well.

5. It makes your skin look flawless

We all know how great Vitamin C is for our skin, right? In fact it’s not unusual to find it as an ingredient in lotions and serums. What you may not know is that Vitamin C you intake through food is just as important. Lemon, with its antioxidant properties, helps preventing inflammation and wrinkles. For a full inside-out effect!

It really is that easy. Heat some filtered water in a kettle or a poacher, and be careful not to boil it. The water should be just a little warm when you’ll drink it.
Meanwhile, squeeze one lemon (you can start with just half of it if you feel like that’s too much) and pour the juice into a cup or a tall glass of water (circa 1cup/250ml).

This is just the first step though! There are plenty of things you could do to detox your body and your liver (which we mention a lot because it’s the most fatigued organ after an overload of fat foods or alcohol). You must remember that nutrition always has a central role in our life, it’s our main source of wellness. That’s why eating in a well-balanced way
it’s the most important thing to do if we want to feel healthy from the inside out.
